Arcane Soakes - Milk Straight From The Udders EP Review

Milk Straight From The Udders
"Milk Straight From The Udders" is the new EP from Lisburn rapper Arcane Soakes.

The first track "Be Right Here" features a very cool piano beat which is accompanied perfectly by Arcane Soakes' quick yet clear delivery style. This is quite the opener and and makes hearing the rest intriguing.
"Swill From The Fountain Of Youth" has a wonderfully mellow feel to it with a heady beat again the Northern accent of Soakes is evident but not overpowering as has been the case with some artists form North of the border. His flow seems effortless which makes for a resplendent song.
The EP is broken up by a short interlude "Just Escape". Interludes are integral to hip hop albums and EP's it would seem.
"And The Atrocities Continue" is again a fine track. It would be easy to listen to Arcane Soakes over and over as each time, you discover another lyric that you didn't notice the first time.
"Dare To Be A Square In A World Of Tetrahedrons (Termites)" is a rap song for intellectuals. It reminds me of Buck 65 in some ways. Not many people can pull off a song like this but Arcane Soakes manages to do it competently.
The EP comes to an end with "Picturesque Scene". To be honest, I didn't dig the chorus of this song. The main body of the song is flawless but the repetitive delivery of the word Picturesque Scene in a style that sounds like something from Owl City. That being said, if that is the only negative about the EP then it is quite obviously a stellar EP  which deserves your attention.

Arcane Soakes offers a different approach to hip hop as he shuns the stereotypical subjects such as money, drugs and general anger in the direction of his peers. It's a very refreshing approach which makes the EP stand out above others. I look forward to hearing more from this evidently talented young rapper.
